CHAT (Casper Housing Authority Transitions) and Foundations are two separate transitional housing programs located on Life Steps Campus.
These programs are run by a Casper Housing Authority CARES Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) Case Manager whose role is to help individuals and families attain self sufficiency.
Foundations houses women who are coming from institutional situations. Their participation in Foundations gives each woman a stable place to live, gain life skills, create a plan for living, and reach self-created goals. Our Case Manager meets with each person weekly, or more often as needed, to help guide and empower program participants.
CHAT is a transitional housing program for homeless families. Similarly our Case Manager meets with tenants on a weekly basis to create plans for self-sufficiency.
Today we celebrate a program participant who started in Foundations with a goal of gaining back custody of her children, and moved into CHAT for a while. After spending time in both programs she and her family are giving their notice to move out, into their own home, together again.
